ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS
CIVIC EVENTS: Only Port Member City applicants, in consultation with their Port Commissioner or Commissioner-authorized non-profit/service organization, may apply for the Civic Event Program sponsorship. Submittal of a Civic Event Program application does not guarantee the requested date and/or venue location. Nor does the submittal imply automatic approval of your event.
Civic Event Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicant is a Member City or a Port Commissioner Authorized Non-Profit/Service Organization
- Civic Events are free of admission charges, require no participation, registration, or equipment rental fees, and are open to all ages.
- Minimum Projected Attendance 500+
- Civic Events must occur on the Port tidelands.
- All Events must occur between July 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026.
- Submitting a Civic Event Program application does not guarantee the requested date and/or venue location, nor does it imply automatic approval of your event.
Community Event Eligibility Criteria:
- Non-profit organizations applying for the TAP FY26 Community Event Fee Waiver Sponsorship for FY26 should note that the event must be free of admission charges or registration fees and open to all ages.
- Non-profit applicants hosting free events on Port tidelands open to all ages are eligible to apply for TAP FY26 Community Event Fee Waiver Sponsorship.
- Please contact Port staff at 619-686-6447 for assistance regarding TAP FY26 Community Event Fee Waiver Sponsorship applications and eligibility.
- Submittal of a TAP Community Event Fee Waiver Sponsorship application does not guarantee the date and location or imply automatic approval of fee waivers for your event.
- The acceptance of your application or event verification data and recommendation for a TAP award does not guarantee that an event permit will be issued.
INELIGIBLE APPLICANTS FOR TAP FY26 SPONSORSHIP
- Events charging an admission/ticket fee or requiring paid registration/participation fees are ineligible to apply for the TAP FY26 Civic and Community Event Fee Waiver Sponsorship.
- For-profit entities are not eligible for fee waivers for TAP FY26 Civic or Community Event Fee Waiver Sponsorship.
- Applicants with stormwater violations and environmental-related citations from FY23-24 or FY24-25 will not be eligible for TAP Sponsorship in FY26.
SPONSORSHIP FUNDING – TAP CIVIC ONLY
The Board of Port Commissioners established sponsorship funding levels for the current fiscal year's Civic Event Program in the Port's operating budget. Civic-sponsored events must occur between July 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026. Each member city may apply for sponsorship in consultation with their Port Commissioner, or a Commissioner-authorized non-profit applicant producing an event on Port tidelands in a Port member city may apply for Civic sponsorship. Sponsorship funding and fee waivers may be requested for a single event or be divided among several events occurring in the same fiscal year.
SPONSORSHIP SUPPORT – COMMUNITY
No sponsorship funding has been allocated in the Port's operating budget for TAP FY26 Community Events. Event-related fee waivers for use of Port Tidelands parks may be waived with an approved Community Event TAP sponsorship application.
NEXT STEPS
Registered users may work on their submittals in multiple sessions, and the responses are periodically saved to the cloud. Upon successfully verifying their application data, applicants will receive a system-generated email; ensure receipt of the confirmation email and retain a hard copy to acknowledge that their verification data was received by the deadline. The Port of San Diego is not responsible for incomplete verification submittals or applications not received due to technical issues.
